This machine produces a really fine pot of extremely hot coffee! Brewing is amazingly rapid, I suppose because of the machine's high wattage. We have found that the machine gives the best extraction with room-temperature (not chilled) water; since we use filtered water from our refrigerator's water dispenser, we make it a point to let the water get to room temp. before running the machine. Typically this means we put the water into the machine's reservoir the night before making coffee.The carafe consistently pours without spilling a drop, which is, unfortunately, a rarity. Also, the carafe is exceptionally easy to clean (you can get your fist right in there with a cloth). The machine's plastic components appear very sturdy, and the whole machine appears to be built to last. The design is very nice.We choked a little at the price, but have been burned by cheaper machines. Particularly the "pause brewing" feature now found on most machines is susceptible to wearing out after a time, leading to coffee-flooded countertops, which gets old real fast. This machine has NO pause brewing, but it brews so quickly that I can't imagine even wishing for it on this machine. I'm writing this review after about 2 weeks of using the Bonavita. I'll give an update in a year.

We are very pleased so far! Coffee has a richer flavor and it makes 8 cups very quickly. It turns off automatically after a few hours but you can turn the switch on to continue warming.

Simple machine to use and it brews at the right temp. I agree with the previous reviewer that chilled water from the fridge it just a bit to cold so let it sit for a few minutes first. If you appreciate good quality coffee, this machine will bring out the best in a roast. No timer, no settings needed, but it does have a auto shut off which is nice. Check out the company's website, as well.
