5Simply the best.
By LBI Doc
I have had a good number of different superautomatic machines from Jura, Delonghi, Gaggia, and Saeco (now Philips), and I can say hands down that this is the best machine I have ever used. Where to start? Coffee quality is amazing, great crema, ceramic bur grinders are very fast and very quiet, which brings us to the TWO independent hoppers and bur grinders, so that you can fill one with regular, one with decaf, or whatever you choose, and blend them in 25% increments, so if you want a half caf capuccino, you set each grinder for 50% and you are all set. Milk quality is the best I've seen, and also the hottest, and you can make TWO milk based drinks at the same time, a first for a home based machine! Only thing is the USA machines will not do Cafe Lattes, as the European machines will. I called Jura customer service, they were very nice and explained that on the 110v US system simply not enough power to do the simultaneous milk and coffee to make a "true" latte as you can on the 220v Euro machines, I am not a latte fan so I don't miss it, not sure if it would be a deal breaker for some.Setup is simple and intuitive, machine is very classy and looks great on the counter. Large water tank. Really can't say enough good things about it, yes, very pricey, but worth every penny!

This product is truly amazing! It's not only quick, but quiet! Shared a cup of coffee with a friend and she said it was the best coffee she has ever had. I have made several latte's with it and they tasted great. Can't wait to use it a church and share it with them. Super easy to use and set up which is a plus for me. I need easy! Bottom line...you get what you pay for! In this case, quality! I will let you know how I like it after a few month of use.

3Mixed feelings

I've been using Jura Z-series machines since 2005. I recently upgraded to the Giga5. In most ways this is a good upgrade, although I have mixed feelings about it. These are the pros and cons comparing the Giga5 to the Z-series machines (Z5/Z6/Z7):Pros:-The Giga5 has dual grinders.-The Giga5 can make two cappuccinos at the same time-The frother on the Giga5 is improved over previous models and produces slightly better froth than the Z-series.-The Giga5 can be programmed to automatically rinse on power-onCons:-Small water tank without level indicator. The unit does not warn early enough and may abort the brewing half-way if you're brewing a big cup or two cups leaving you with two weak espressos instead of two coffees.-High price tag makes the value questionable-Brew group not removable-Not available with Chrome facia in the US.The only really negative feeling I have about this machine is that the water tank does not have the visible level indication as many other Jura models have, and to make things worse, it's a tad smaller than the water tank of the Z-series. For example, if you're brewing two cups of cappuccino with the Giga5, you will get the full amount of milk but may end up with only half the amount of programmed coffee if you forget to check the water tank level before starting the brew. You end up with coffee flavored hot milk instead of proper cappuccinos. And a bad mood to start off the morning... Compare this to other Jura models where you can instantly, at a glance, see the water level - something that you will learn to do automatically and unconsciously after a few years of use. With the Giga you have to lift the lid and peek from the top. It requires more work, and it can be hard to determine the water level since looking from the top. At this price point, Jura should at least consider offering a bigger Giga7-style water tank (sticks out and shows the water level) as an option. The first week of using the Giga5 we were really annoyed about the inability to see the water level at a glance and considered returning it. However, now that we've used the Giga5 for a month and gotten used to always lift the lid and top off the water before brewing, it's less of an annoyance. Still, the lack of a water level indicator removes a little bit of convenience compared to older models. I don't know what Jura was thinking here...Another thing worth mentioning is the frother. It is much improved on the Giga5, but it is also more technically challenging to dismantle and clean. The frother on the Z-series is super-easy to clean: Just pull it off, pull out the dial and clean the parts. To clean the frother on the Giga, you first need to remove the cover, then you need to pull off the nozzle, then you need to pull out the frother attachment. Then you need to take apart the frother and clean it. You also need to clean the frother housing on the machine, as there is usually milk residue here too. When putting the frother back together you need to make sure to align the parts. All-in-all it is technically more challenging and takes more time. Cleaning the Z-series frother took 30 seconds, but I probably spend 2~3 minutes with the Giga. Also, this machine uses the same Eugster-Frismag brew group as other Jura models and the brew group is not user-removable, meaning the machine needs to be professionally serviced at regular intervals. (Typically the brew groups won't run more than 2 years without service).Dropping one star for the water tank and another for the high cost, which is questionable considering that a machine at this price point really should have a removable brew group. If you're in between the Jura Z-series and the Giga, you need to ask yourself if the dual grinders and slightly better milk froth is worth the additional cost. The brew quality and crema of a regular espresso/coffee between the Z and Giga is essentially the same because the brew group is the same. However, to a cappuccino lover the Giga is better since it can make two cappuccinos at the same time and the quality of the froth is slightly better. It may also be worth mentioning that the Giga is not the only way to get the improved frothing capability. Jura has incorporated the new technology in the newly released "Professional fine foam frother" attachment (Article #69771). This newly designed frother accessory is sold as an attachment that works with all current and older Jura/Capresso models that has the "connector system". This should produce a frothing quality that is on par with the Giga, so there's no need to spend 5 grand just to get the better froth. It can be achieved at a third of the cost.
